As I shaped that crooked smile, I thought honestly about my own life. The days I struggled, grew tired, yet never gave up on smiling. This time, Mr Roo became a business person: someone who knows success, who earns, but above all someone who chooses to look at life with positivity. Luck is on his side because he always smiles, and he wins because he makes others smile too. In my view, the real secret of success is hidden right there, and I wanted to remind him of that again and again with every piece I made.
When you lean in close to the surface, you will see the marks left by my fingertips: small writings, symbols, and signs asking what success is, what money is, what happiness is. All of them are fragments from his story, and a little from mine as well. Because Roo takes on a different identity each time, becomes a different character.
